ANTs (Aides-in-Training)
ABOUT ANTs
ANTs are trained to be program aides following a Girl Scouts USA-developed
leadership program.
At Arequipa, this program is for girls entering seventh grade who are interested in leading younger Girl Scouts under the guidance of an adult leader. Girls learn about the duties of a program aide, the stages of youth development, communication and teambuilding skills, and what qualities make a good leader. They will learn to lead younger girls in a variety of activities, including songs and games.
ANTs have their own unit and program. They do not participate in the regular camp program and instead focus on learning program aide skills, developing expertise in firebuilding and outdoor cooking, and learning to help younger girls with lanyards, flag, and other activities. ANTs are encouraged to attend the Thursday sleepover which will be their opportunity to participate in some of the usual camp activities such as archery, leather, and swimming.

ANT ANSWERS:
Can my daughter be an ANT in
one session and a PA in another session this summer?
No. ANTs are not eligible to attend Day Camp
as Program Aides in the same year as they attend the ANT program. We will welcome this year’s ANT graduates as Day Camp
Program Aides NEXT year.
What if my daughter doesn’t get into the ANT program?
Other Aide Training opportunities are offered by the Girl Scouts of Northern California Council and nearby Girl Scout camps. We will try to help you find another opportunity for your daughter to get Aide Training if she doesn't make it into our camp offering this year.

WAIT LIST
Girls who do not get into camp will be put on a waiting list. Campers will be notified if space becomes available. If space becomes available, any balance is due within TWO WEEKS of notification, or within three weeks of the start of camp, whichever is sooner. Once paid, ANT fees are NOT REFUNDABLE. |
TRANSPORTATION
Bus stops will tentatively be Mill Valley-Corte Madera-Greenbrae-San
Anselmo on one bus and Terra Linda-Central San Rafael-Fairfax on
a second bus. First stops leave between 8-8:30am; locations subject
to change dependent upon needs. Please note that
there is no bus service from West Marin or Novato. For each session we need
two week-long adult volunteer Bus Riders (considered part-time volunteers) who will ride to and from camp
each day, one on each route.
